Jesse Mercier Dec. 20, 1985 - Oct. 29 2005
Jesse L. Mercier was born in Kingston, NY on Dec. 20, 1985. I gave him the name Jesse, but his dad wanted to have James as his middle name. I didnt want to have him "branded" by the reputation of the infamous Jesse James, so we gave him the middle name Lee, after his step sister Jen. He grew up in the small town of Catskill, New York. Always had a love for music, bowling, football, baseball, fishing, wrestling, movies, mom's french toast, and school. He was a great cook, a person that could make you laugh, had the incredible ability to annoy the hell out of Kristina, getting the jimmy stuck up to the frame in mud, making you smile with his warped sense of humor, and above all, being the best hangout buddy to watch a good flick with and enjoy a bowl of popcorn with. He loved music like Metallica, Korn, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, and so many others. I remember coming outside in the evening time and see him sitting on the front porch swing. "Come sit down, mommy" he would say wanting to chit chat and just talk about our day. He would attempt to fix anything. So self learning, and he felt so proud when he brought it to you "here, its done" He had a smile that was ear to ear, the brightest blue eyes that could light up a room when he walked into it. Jesse was the kindest boy you would ever want to meet. If you were cold, he would give you the shirt off his back. If you were hungry, he would help you find food. If you were in trouble, he'd be the first one there to help, he didn't have much but gave what he had. When he turned 17, got his drivers license (he was so proud that day). He got his first truck (a GMC Jimmy). The thing was off the road more than on the road. Within the first four days the exhaust fell out of it. We always had to do repairs, and it became a running joke seeing up on the flatbed getting towed to get repaired again. Once it was up and running, he would head up to Bob's property to go four wheeling... yep within a week, it was broke down again. He become very depressed within the last few months of his life. The year since he left Long Island University was very tough on him. He came home a very different person. We just never saw the signs. He became very positive about getting a job, went bowling with Billy and I, spent hours playing PS2 hockey with him, and becoming more social rather than closing himself in his room. He was so smart, Jesse was an absolute gorgeous young man, A heart as big as the ocean, always wanted to help someone. stubborn as a mule, but a heart of gold. We lost Jesse early morning on October 29 2005 they say... I know in my heart, he took his life the evening of the 28th. He was given the date and time that he was found. He will never be forgotten. You broke alot of hearts, my son, and we are all going to miss you so! May you rest in peace. We will see you again in heaven my son.... shine on you crazy diamond, shine on......
